Tomato Peas Pulao Using Seeraga Samba Rice




Health Benefit and Nutritional content of seeraga samba rice:





Helps in fighting cancer:

1.       Seeraga samba rice contains selenium which helps to prevent  cancer in colon and intestine.
2.       It has got lots of fibre and anti-oxidants which helps to remove free radicals from colon and intestine.
3.       It also has phytonutrients which help to fight breast cancer and strengthens the heart.

Helps in lowering cholesterol:

1.       The oil in the seeraga rice reduces cholesterol.

2.       It is rich in fibre hence, reduces the LDL cholesterol and increases HDL in the body.

Rich in Fibre:

1.       Since it is rich in fibre, it controls the calories in the food and thus stops more intake of food.

2.       It also eases digestion and helps to relieve constipation.

Ingredients:

1.       2 cups of Seeraga Samba Rice (soak for 20 minutes)
2.       1 big onion
3.       3 medium size tomato
4.       3 green chillies (split)
5.       ½ cup green peas
6.       Few mint leaves
7.       1tbsp ginger garlic paste
8.       1 ¼  tsp coriander powder
9.       Chilli powder( based on your spice level)
10.   1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder ( for colour; optional)
11.   1 tsp garam masala
12.   ½ tsp fennel seeds
13.   1inch cinnamon
14.   4-5 clove
15. 1-star anise
16.   2 bay leaf
17.   salt to taste
18.   3 tbsp oil


For making tomato peas pulao:
1.       Heat the pressure cooker and add 3tbsp of oil
2.       Once the oil is heated add
·      ½ tsp fennel seeds
·      1 inch cinnamon
·      4 -5 clove
·      1-star anise
·      2 bay leaf

             Allow it to pop up well.

3.       Then add 3 green chillied (split) and some mint leave and sauté it well.

4.       Add 1 sliced big onion and sauté it until it turns light golden brown.

5.       Add 1tbsp of ginger garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell fades.

6.       Add 3 chopped tomato and sauté it for 3 minutes.

7.       Once tomato oozes out its juice add
·      1 ¼  tsp coriander powder
·      Chili powder( based on your spicy level)
·      1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder ( for colour; optional )
·      1 tsp garam masala
·       salt to taste

                Mix it well.

8.       Now for 1 cup of rice add 1 ¾ cups of water, As I have taken 2 cups of rice I need 3 ½ cups of water. Allow it to boil

9.       10.   Once water starts boiling well add
a.       ½ cup of green peas
b.      2 cups of seeraga samba rice

Mix it gently and closed the pressure cooker and keep it under medium flame for 2 whistles after 2 whistles turn off the stove

11.   Once the pressure is released open the cooker now mouthwatering flavour full tomato pea’s pulao is ready. Serve it hot with raita.


Note:
1.       As I had used frozen green peas I add it at last while adding rice. If you’re using normal  fresh green peas add it while adding other masala.
