Healthy Juice Tips

1 st I’m making it very clear that I’m not a health professional / nutrition/dietitian.   I write tips here based on what I learnt from professionals. People with some health conditions can’t consume some fruits. So kindly follow the guidance given by your doctor/nutrition/dietitian.   In summer most of us consume juice. Here are a few tips to make/have a healthy juice along with a few pieces of information about juice. Kappa Puzhukku

This kappa puzhukku is a traditional Kerala dish. I thank vasanthy aunty because from here only l got introduced to many of the authentic Kerala dishes. This is a high-carb dish. But one of my favourite dishes too. Ingredients:     1.         Tapioca / kappa / cassava-500gms 2.         Shallots (small onions) -5 Nos 3.       Green chillies-1Nos 4.       Garlic cloves-2 5.       Curry leaves-2 sprigs 6.       Turmeric Powder- 1/4 tsp 7.       cumin seeds -1/2 tsp 8.       Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp 9.       Grated Coconut - 1 cup 10.    salt (to taste) 11.    coconut oil- 2tsp     To Make Kappa Puzhukku: 1.    steam the kappa by cutting it into 2 halves until it cooks well and easy to remove the skin. 2.    Now remove the brown skin when it’s hot itself. Multi Grain Dosa

  Important caution: Millet is not a superfood for people having some health issues/allergies. So before consuming millet just consult a nutritionist/ a doctor.   Here I followed the ratio that we use for making normal dosa. 5 cups grains and 1 cup black urad dhal. We all know that millet, red rice, red aval and black urad dhal have many health benefits and are good for people to maintain weight/ shed extra weight. Ingredients:     1.       Broken Matta rice – 2 cup 2.       Ragi - 1 cup 3.       Kambu-1 cup 4.       Thinnai- 1 cup 5.       Red Aval – 1 cup 6.       Black urad dhal- 1 ¼ cup 7.       Salt to taste 8.       oil for cooking dosa. Pachai Payaru Gravy

  This pachai payaru gravy (green gram) is a healthy side dish for dosa, chapati and even for white rice too. This green gram has many health benefits and is a source of protein for vegetarians and is best suited for people who are looking to lose weight. Ingredients:      1.          Green Gram – 1 cup 2.       oil - 1 Tbsp 3.       Fennel - 1/4 Tsp 4.       Green Chilli - 2 Nos 5.       Onion - 2 Nos(finely chopped ) 6.       Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 Tsp 7.       Tomato - 3Nos(chopped) 8.       Turmeric Powder - A Pinch 9.       Chilly Powder - 1 Tsp 10.    Coriander Powder - 1 1/2 tsp 11.    Salt to taste 12.    Some Coriander leaves     To make Pachai Payaru gravy: 1.    Heat a kadai and dry roast the green gram until you get a nice aroma. So what suits me may not suit others. In reality / practical grounds non-can eat healthy all 365 days. What I follow is, I eat 90% healthy food in the right way and 10 % I deviate from the healthy way, but not on daily basis and also I eat them in minimal quantity.
